tbh RYM is so massive in terms of community and its database that it has the luxury of possessing many different tags that can nail down a record in very specific terms. Whether those are ultimately necessary or not is up for debate, but yeah we will never (and should never) have a Swancore tag added here.

Yeah well I figured it wouldn't last, was still pretty impressive all things considered.
NAF is definitely worth it, I'd check it out!

Definitely will once I get through the *checks notes* 70 albums in front of it on the listening list lol.

Hope this is better than the singles cus those did nothing for me. The high ratings give me hope tho.

Chunker and Under The Floor are two of my faves if not my top 2. but i really liked them
60 Minute Session Blocks and The Story Writes Itself are in the same tier/also top contenders

Their setlist from what I saw only included "Maladapted" from the new alb when excluding singles. Shame, would be hoping for at least one more new pick that wasn't already released.

@Jeet I felt the same when I heard the singles but it really all works and blooms as an album.

The bassline of I saw you hanging at the start screams Glassjaw. New album wen?

Man, it's been a bad year for music for me, both in how much I'm enjoying music and how often I get to listen during a day. But this...this is good. This makes me happy. Maladapted , The Story Writes Itself, Tithe, and Under the Floor are early highlights for me.

The only real negative about this album are the sometimes pure cringe lyrics.

genre politics are so weird. what's with the fan-fabricated to-the-death battle royale among swancore bands? genre popularity ebbs and flows with time it's nothing new and bands will continue to make this kind of music and good for them if they enjoy it
|

Album Rating: 3.3
swancore has always been full of divas and volatile lineups, so the image isn't exactly misplaced, and
"bands will continue to make this kind of music"
this becomes less true in any worthwhile capacity each year

I've never been a fan of these guys but this is growing on me hard with each listen. 60-Minute Session Blocks, Maladapted, and The Story Writes Itself are top-tier.
The Story Writes Itself actually sounds exactly like an old Alesana song to me. Maybe Where Myth Fades to Legend era.
