The Puddle is probably an ironic emo band somewhere
|

"everyone here knows how language works johnny, you're funny but you won't gaslight us all the way to your funny farm."
???? you literally brought up character m'dude
or if you wanna treat that as interchangeable with personality, then I brought it up and you engaged with it as a point of discussion
either way i do not get the stall

"pro tip for making an ultra-serious atmojunz record like this is not to roll with probably the most all chops/zero personality vocalist i can think of in contemp metal"
describe what the tangible difference in talking about character and personality in vocals is.
in case you were literally talking about him as a person i would wonder why that would be relevant for you in judging music.

My coworker randomly said "a staring contest with nothing" to describe something and I thought that could make a fun lyric.
Also it's not a band either so hop on that, aspiring emo musicians ig

Fun thread

character can be inherent or affected, personality is inherent and unique
dude is talented enough that i can't begrudge anyone for reading character into his inflections etc., but the whole performance sounds like a flavourless session gig me and, given everything else I've heard him on, I don't think I could pin a single jot of personality on him
now cough up you avian bitch

you are all characters

So anyways, listening to this a second time and Atlantic goes hard. A great catharsis for the slow burn that is the first three tracks

"Atlantic" to "Parabiosis" is definitely the heart of this record, it really all comes together there.
Kinda wanna check Karin Park's solo stuff too, great feature.

whenever you turn on the tv and see an actor perfectly telegraphing every dimension of whichsoever scripted human without bringing a single lick of compelling presence, you are in fact listening to the ocean

Missed them on their last tour, hopefully they'll come through again next year. Def a band I'm gonna need to see eventually. My show-going habits have dried up ugh
