"Also I don't think BCNR and Black Midi are actually very popular among zoomers. Zoomers by and large listen to rap, rap adjacent pop and R&B and country."
That's a very US centric view and I don't even think it's true there. Of course they are still the most popular genres but Black Midi and BCNR are pretty niche still despite their internet hype but among that niche a lot of zoomers like that shit. I'm not even the biggest fan of both bands btw but I appreciate what they do none the less

"More offensive than the comment about autistic/queer/ADHD people is the notion that this album is adjacent to hyperpop just because it has loud and boisterous production. "
lool fair enough
"Also I don't think BCNR and Black Midi are actually very popular among zoomers. Zoomers by and large listen to rap, rap adjacent pop and R&B and country."
certainly but its also true that their fanbase is probably 90% zoomers
hype correct as usual

I'm sure a lot of their listeners are zoomers but I don't think zoomers by and large are into that type of music.

im being a dickhead but ive really never understood the hype for Danny brown. hes got some decent features over the years but all his solo stuff feels like it’s trying way to hard and comes off as extremely forced and inorganic.

You can say the exact same about JPEGMAFIA. Huge zoomer fanbase but most still listen to what's on the charts.

I think he is less annoying on this album than anything else I've heard him on. The mixing helps with that.

Yes ReefaJones I would not have denied that.

im sorry to tell you guys but I’m in school right now with a bunch of zoomers and I can guarantee not a single one of them know who any of these bands are.

Sure but I don't think we were talking about what's popular rather we were pointing out the age demographic of the fanbase

I reckon most of their fans are already fans of music beyond passive listening whilst playing video games. If these artists appeal to 'zoomers' to the extent that they take an interest in music beyond non copyright youtuber music or music with lower levels of musicianship I'd say it's a good thing. But I reckon there aren't many fans who that applies to, even here in the uk where they have been on the radio/received awards.

Also where is that 'treb' "JPEG is kinda hyperpop adjacent..." comment? I can't find it
|
| |
I feel like it's so easy to understand both the appeal of and reasons why people dislike Danny Brown, it's all just a matter of taste

@ghandi prob got reported and deleted

I see comments like that all the time on rym where queer and neurodivergent people say those traits are a necessity to fully appreciate the music. I think it's silly but don't know what's so offensive about it
|
| |
That's a different claim. Treb is saying you probably need to be these things to be a fan. Comes off as derogatory

so which part is the offensive one then?. The "hyperpop adjacent" claim? lol

I definitely scanned it as just being silly
