also Matt doesn't get enough credit in this release, his contribution to this album is so rock solid

I don't actually know what's not fully clicking to make me think ZOMG BEST PERIPHERY ALBUM like RYM is receiving this. Everything Is Fine is... fine, but it just makes me think of Blood Eagle and CHVRCH BVRNER. Like this is still Periphery so I still dig it but it just kinda feels like a mashup of all their other albums and doesn't really have a standout that I'd put in my top 10-20. It's weird that I'm this harsh on a 4.0 but like that's sort of the STANDARD for Periphery full-lengths so I'm a little disappointed.
I seem to be alone in thinking Silhouette is one of the better ones here though aren't I?

Insane to pick out this line from my comment and cut out the context in the sentence directly after praising the writing style. I thoroughly enjoy Johnny reviews even if I disagree with them. Didn't even think my comment was remotely negative.
I was mostly just confused that people could exist on this website for any extended period of time and still be all shocked Pikachu when Johnny's review of a "trendy" metal genre is negative.

well, i will say that pretentious is an ominous term and bleaches me out when used for any of the 25%ish of reviews on this site not written as undisguised summer camp/quarter life crisis testimonials

i'm convinced at least 80% of the people who still think racecar is their best song are people who haven't given the band a fair shake since p2... especially when they've since made 12+ minute songs like omega and reptile that are both exponentially better

I never checked out much after P1 because of P1, but i liked P4, so i figure i might scope out Alpha and Omega one day and see how i feel. Maybe I’ll listen to P1 again to see if my opinion has changed after that, but i dunno
