I dug Utgard ngl, specially how it flows. E not so much. Axioma is a fucking banger. And this is actually a different level from Utgard. More nuanced and intricate. With more special places to explore. The dude that called this bm mastodon has a point in some tracks, but this has much more, from meshuggary to opeth and still leaves space for several 70s prog takes. Should def check their early works.
@Notrap that song was awesome. Tks

There’s some gnarly solos in this. Don’t remember them doing solos much

gotta say, the atmosphere is what dragged me in, but the solos are what intrigued me, they really fit in nicely

Dis good. Best Enslaved since Axioma. Kept it simple here and it paid off.

Disagree. This is way more complex and layered than Utgard f.e. Those synths and acoustic guitars underneath the mais riffs are too yummy. They also switch between many vibes on this, imo.
I agree its prob their best since Axioma though.

totally hooked on the sound and the production feels pretty raw here which is great
if i love this what should i try out next by these guys? listened only to Isa and a little bit of Utgard and Riitiir but this hooked me like those didn't

@Deftone I mean, there's a pretty broad range of sonic elements but the songwriting/structure is very straightforward (as opposed to the last few albums that felt kind of all over the place in that department). Even most of the riffs are pretty basic/simple. But it all has a fantastic sense of movement and progression that keeps you engaged.

@stormchaser
Depends on what you like. I'd say try out axioma. If you did more straightforward black metal then check out frost or hordanes land. A lot of people love below the lights but it's not in my personal top tier

@Portal
Honnestly I found the writing super weird and proggy, but yeah straight fw riffs perhaps (?). It took me a few listens to grasp it in full, but maybe its just me I'm not used Enslaved's approach in general. Even if I did some quick tours on them, never in recurrent basis.
