Aye. Honestly there’s so much ‘serious’ DM that I mostly want a ridiculous over-the-top edge from melodeath. I still want bite (which this has in spades) but otherwise it’s a tough sell
MDM that’s masquerading as ODSM is cool, but not necessarily what I’d seek… incredibly unlikely to be a “go-to”. Intestine Baalsism or whatever they’re called for instance... sounds good but they’re essentially MDM for DM heads. I’ll probably never revisit them tbh because they don’t fulfil a big enough niche to warrant it

Melodeath is probably my favorite metal genre but it's also one of those genres that you really have to dig deep in order to find the good stuff most of the time, which is unfortunate if you're someone just getting into the genre with little to no experience. There's also a lot of really cool melodeath that unfortunately goes unnoticed because... let's be real, most people don't want to dive deep into the genre, and sometimes I can't blame them tbh.

Also since there's some moderate activity here once again, I'm gonna plug a similar project that you guys would also really like. It's a little more restrained compared to the madness of ICDD, but Rib:y(uhki) also shows off his vocal prowess just as much here, and the riffs aren't too different from the ones KIM pulls off.

Yeah Skydancer is essential melodeath, you can hear the influence of the Skydancer/Gallery era of DT in quite a lot more melodeath than you would realize. It's just a shame most of it goes unnoticed by the majority of melodeath fans.
