What are those 5 from 2020? I’m honestly struggling even to recall what albums were big in 2020 outside of the ones I personally enjoyed.

Maybe it’s cynical but I kinda feel like people (not saying you, just people in general) just latched on hard to a lot of kinda mid stuff in 2020 because of the lockdowns. Imo most of the “quarantine” albums that year haven’t aged well either.

I only know Fiona among these so fair enough.
But yeah I just skimmed the RYM 2020 top chart (perhaps not the best metric but alas) and it def seems that I have a mid to low opinion on a disproportionate amount of stuff in my general wheelhouse what was rated highly that year.

The big thing this year has been the amount and quality of “comeback” releases. A high amount of my historical favorite bands have dropped stuff this year and I’m a lot of cases these releases have been their best in a decent while. “New” acts (Ethel Cain, BCNR, MJ Lenderman) have also been ranking very high for me though.
