the first song is a snoozer fs, car keys starts off great to me and then gets boring
deakin>avey is wild to me though, as a vocalist. deakin strikes me as uncharismatic in a way that's not good

Panda has the nicest voice, but his vocal melodies aren't as compelling as Avey's imo

Yeah I have to agree that Avey's vocals are a bit too exaggerated a lot of the time and can be annoyingly idiosyncratic. I like how simple and beautiful Deakin is (esp on Sleep Cycle). I still love a lot of stuff Avey does but he's the least consistent of the 3. He's responsible for a lot of my favourite ANCO stuff but his solo albums are noticeably lacking - barring Hourglass Pond

I liked Down There a ton, even though it’s “slight”

AC has been irrelevant since the 2010’s, a lot of audacity to be asking me to listen to a 20 minute song in 2023

cruel.
20 mins of autechre is the same as 1 min of autechre it is equally pointless time has stopped
20 mins of anco is wow you are suddenly hyperaware of how quickly time is passing lol you are wasting it oh fuck you're an old man bye bye

Here: it’s not perfect but this new Animal Collective song is better than anything since Fall Be Kind/on the previous 3 and I’ve thought so since I saw it live/heard it for the first time March 2022
check my interview with him I posted on the blog here—it’s not a clear explication lol but he talks about “defeat”
