What the heck is the name of the short lived band that influenced the sound of this album? It was an ep I believe.

The thing is tho that it came out in ‘96 and Obscura was mostly written awhile before that, so maybe they took inspiration from the previous Human Remains demos but I haven’t listened to those to know what they sound like

Hang on, this took inspiration from Human Remains? Damn, that's a lovely knowledge-enriching little nugget. I will meditate on this.

'Is it just something that kind of clicks after a couple of listens?'

I enjoyed it instantly, but in a 'this sounds cool, despite the fact I have no clue what's going on' kind of way - idk, I just liked the vibe and atmosphere. It was one of the first DM albums I'd ever listened to as well, lol. It did grow on me further over time.

Human Remains also influenced Dillinger and Deadguy i believe

they are a very important band in the history of sorta dissonant/skronky metal/core

Which Human Remains? The majority of Obscura was written by 94.

Hurdle already had the ideas for the Obscura / FWTH era on the Purulence / Amaymon split before joining Gorguts.

yeah, I was under the impression Sickness's release date is misleading in that sense, had no idea they were this influential though (at least in relation to the whole disso-death movement, thought it was more for the grind / spazzy metalcore side)

pretty cool
