The user score isn't entirely surprising. Pop albums usually draw attention from fans on Metacritic who rate albums typically with 100. Look at the user aggregate for almost any mainstream release on MC and they'll generally have a huge quantity of scores that are either 100 or 90.

For example, Fearless (Taylor's Version) has a user aggregate of 92 with 2,500 published reviews. The average independent release from a relatively well known artist is lucky to get 5 user reviews. Most of their audience are in websites like RYM or AlbumofTheYear.
