@nash yeah I agree with you. i think it would've been better if Circle With Me and Constance were 10 and 11 rather than 11 and 12. not sure what should've been the closer though, maybe Eternal Blue?

I dunno, I think Constance works perfectly as the closer. Especially partnered with the music video, its such a gut punch ending that really leaves you in awe.

Dumb choice to release it as a single tho

Exactly, I don't really care. Part of what's cool about this current generation of music is that musicians so often put out little videos like that so you can see who's really getting helped by Andy Autotune. Like Phil Labonte is fucking terrible live and he is someone that I think is autotuned to the point of being silly, but nothing I heard on this record indicated that her pitch was being fixed, maybe just intensity for certain parts of tracks. Like these are all double/triple-tracked anyway so.

"But I also am a big whore for 'over-produced' bands like Periphery or anything Devin Townsend does."

yes, and that's your preference. I also like the sound, it's just not for everyone. Some may like it a bit more raw as you said.

As far as the singles, I wonder if that was a particular push from Rise. I stopped listening to them once the release date was announced but even without listening to them you know which songs are gonna be the anthem-type ones since they have to be singles representative of the band's greater sound and also fit into the album. It's not a big deal for me but I do hope they cool down with the number of singles in the future.

It's just that Constance was a single, it would have been way more impactful if it were not. They could have easily made another one of these songs a single instead of Constance, bit of a shame.

This album gets better and better with each listen. I’m really thinking of bumping to a 4.8 (5 on here)… Yellowjacket just keeps fucking with me. Everything else is perfect.

y’all forget the pandemic delayed the rollout so of course they had to the string the singles further since performing and promoting them also got delayed

Constance is the closer as it should be. It just shouldn't have been a single. Imagine hearing that for the first time here. Wow

Summit chorus may be my favorite outside Secret garden. Love it

I actually found myself being really grateful that I had heard so much of the album already when I started it this morning because I already knew that I loved half the album.

Whereas with AFI’s latest album I wasn’t that excited because so many of the singles didn’t grab me

@nash I really doubt they knew it was gonna be the closer before then. They still had a ton of songs to finish up for the record when that dropped.

Yeah the overproduction here is not that bad is just so clean sometimes it sounds too artificial I think, but they clearly were doing it because they wanted to, in general is not a bad experience just not the one I usually look for, that's all, I went without knowing too much about the band other than the name and the genre tags, and don't get me wrong I think Tatiana might be better for my taste but Im also not the bigest Jinjer fan it was just a thought because I've listened to Wallflowers recently and I saw some comparations from people.

Maybe it's the Tesseract-esque guitar/bass thing or the way the melodies flow ... I don't have good words for it, but I hooked me instantly
