I've only heard a couple albums from The Drones (working on it!) and I think there's a pretty solid throughline between those and Meatspace. They're a bit more caustic and bombastic than Braindrops and this. Braindrops is hella underrated as a dive into cheeky subtlety, and this seems like a happy middle ground that feels all their own. I can see why fans seem to be coming and going with every release, as they very much seem to just do their own thing.

Havilah is relatively restrained in its own way, Gala Mill is basically a folk album at points, and Gaz' solo record pulls back completely into even more complicated and fully realized storytelling, so there's always been a push and pull to it
That said if you hadn't had your nards kicked in yet by Here Come the Lies, it's a wonderful time

All three are about the same for me, as in they all rule hard. My fav song so far is probs Paradise.

This has grown on me a lot now, think it’s their best, like the girl vox too
Great knotty song writing, fun lyrics
Close to the 4.5 bump

yeah I liked it enough it got me to pre-order the whole fucking record, which is something I practically never do... might even go so far as to say I'm enjoying it more than the majority of the tracks off this album

This finally clicked - "G.A.F.F." and "Bumma Sanger" are the only tunes I'm not as enamored with but they're still not bad and the entire back half is fucking amazing.

Dyl!
Yes, this is officially grower album of the year now considering the number of reactions like yours (and mine).

I liked G.A.F.F. immediately but 'Bumma' did take a little while to marinate aye. Pretty much wall-to-wall excellence by this point. Like a fine wine (apparently).

Demon, I still need to get to the Amon Tobin - it’s that good?

His best since ISAM imo (which I love btw). It's a nice summation of his career thus far without being anything particularly ground-breaking (for him), but it comes together really well.
When you say 'that good' - it is v good, although you might want to consider the fact I've heard so little this year, that my AOTY competition is currently sporting a pitifully small selection of viable candidates.

That sounds good enough for me, ISAM isn’t my favourite of his (not top 4 even maybe) but it’s still very nice indeed
