That’s it. Even At Least We Found The Floor grew on me. This whole album is just stuck in my head.

Gonna let is digest for a couple of days before I bump this amazing fun thing.

Genuinely curious

i wanna gOoOoOo where the lightning strikes twice

after that it should've gone somewhere bigger, more intense instead of repeating that line a few times and ending on a longer gOoOoOoO n kinda petering out. like imagine conor screaming idk like 'so i can be free' or fuckin anything whatsoever after that with crashing guitars and drums etc etc. that would've been cool but instead it's just kinda empty

three spins into this, initially 3.5'd, now up to a 4

still not really feeling "Beacons" and the middle arc of the record is kinda samey in feel and construction, though I've come around on most of the tracks individually

"Speak With The Dead" is handily the highlight here. the sheer force of the drop in "737" is great too of course

idk, it's still prob my least fave Foxing but just barely. band is doing what they want from album to album and it's great to watch them evolve even if some of the excursions aren't my fancy

Lightning sucks because the chorus does nothing. "Wanna go-oh-oh" and you're like "oh shit. Here comes a massive chorus" NOPE. "Where the lightning strikes twice" and you're thinking it's going to go on more, like "and the people are nice, partying all night" or some shit (Idk, I'm not a fking lyricist but you get the idea), but NOPE. It just repeats the same build up to nothing. Worst song on the album by a mile

The gOoOoOo is my favorite part other than the guitars haha

I agree it could have gone into a scream or something, but most of this album is repeated choral melodies which is why I don't understand why Lightning is being singled out

It feels like a Manchester Orchestra song that nobody decided to rein in and I love it for that

Conor’s vocal delivery on the “Let me take my time, let me find my words

Strike me down, let me burn”

part is the best on the song but yeah the chorus is pretty weak imo

Why is it the chorus I recall more than any other one here then

Should I see a psychiatrist?

i think lightning gets singled out because it's the most bare bones/noticeable example. most other songs have something 'extra' to hide the relative blandness (beacons has funky falsettos as does ddtm + a more expansive chorus, bialystok has wild vocal fx etc) whereas this one just has the gOoOoO lol

but yeah it's not the worst track, just doesn't have a whole lot going for itself

It’s not a bad song at all but going into this album I knew it’d be one of my least favorites since it was my least favorites of the singles

ok my prediction is that while lightning has one of the most instantly memorable choruses it'll end up being one of the tracks you'll be skipping a few months from now, get back to me at the end of the year and lmk if i was correct hahah

I've listened to this twice and like but don't love it. I feel like the odd man out because so far At Least We Found The Floor has been one of the tracks which stood out the most for me (in a positive way).

@Jesper will do, but I've been listening to it since it dropped (however long ago that was) and I like it more now than I did then lol.
