also didn’t realize this settled at a 4! I’m p sure it was 3.9 for a while. I don’t return to this one nearly as much as most of the rest of the discog, but when it hits it HITS

the run from the beginning to Dorothy is insane. Blue Hen/Lilac Queen are some of my faves too but it's clear the RUN ends at Dorothy

In summary form, the pros and cons of Nebraska include:

• Livable city

• Low population density

• Affordable cost of living

• Economic opportunities

• Good educational options

• Not so great weather

• Prone to natural disasters

• Boring landscape

• Limited entertainment options

• Lack of diversity

love the combo of nonsensical lyrics and then shit like “I tremble at the thought of what’s often referred to as karma”

they were really in their bag on this one - sometimes this is best mwY

This overtook Brother, Sister as my pick for their best. This is just by far and away their most consistent album musically and everything to do with the lyrics hits me like a truck on a deep personal level even though I haven't been practicing religion since I was like 17

But if anything, being raised under religious indoctrination and subsequently getting away from it makes me appreciate this man's lyrics even more somehow

Feel like it makes sense that this one would resonate then, being one big faith/existence crisis
