Love it. Well-Intentioned Virus is probably sliiiiiiightly better but both are excellent albums.

This is their longest running lineup, and the current singer and guitarists have written most of their seminal music. Theyve had the same lineup for 16 years so I find it somewhat misleading or off the mark how often these reviews mention the lack of original members, etc. If you were a new fan you'd get the idea that a bunch of the core members have been replaced by newjacks but this is the same Zao for probably nearly 8 albums now, in terms of whose writing it.

Russ didn't play on Fear or Awake, so that's not exactly a true statement. He rejoined 2010 or 2011 and it's been all upwards from there.

Original members and core members are not the same thing innit. The band acknowledged it themselves when naming one song "Ship of Theseus". I don't think it's misleading at all.
Zao is a very, very long time running band, so even if the current line-up has been there for a significant amount of time (or albums), the founding members are not in the band anymore. That's all that the review(s) say.

I didn't even know this band had no og members left.
What a strange twist of events. I can imagine the founding members having a convo along these lines: "Yo, dude, remember this band called Zao we started nearly twenty years ago? Yeah, I've heard they got pretty good over the years."

Yea all the OG guys are long gone. Smith was the last OG member and he left in 2003.
