Average falls are inevitable these days. A release poking its head above a 4.1 is a rare sight to see. Combination of a variety of reasons that gradually bring the hype down a level.

Let us bask in this in-between moment where the band is pretty universally jerked off before it becomes cool to shit on them.

The year in music has officially started. In the same week I found two contenders for AOTY (the other one is the new Black Dresses album)

Although I totally get you view Demon. This demands a very focused listen, that can make it a little moody. It can make you hitting a wall at times.
All I can say is that I was able to be focused on it and just let myself go. I won't lie that the pretentious text on their bandcamp also helped me analyse why it is different from previous LP, being Ad Nauseam anyway. The record kinda speaks its own language, even if its more one sided than the previous one.

it's albums like this that prove my point that i'm not insane when i'm talking about compression haha
imagine how insane the last ulcerate record would be if it were DR11, instead it's DR6

I don’t know what any of that means but the ‘full dynamic range’ version I heard was strikingly similar to the regular version. Maybe I’m just a pleb.

that DR11 version is the one that's everywhere as far as i know - i think they just want to advertise the dynamic range because the band members are part of a studio.

Ah that would make sense. Someone (I forget who) said you need to check the Bandcamp version and when I saw the ‘full dynamic range‘ label I presumed that was why.
