The guitars are excellent across the board here. Title track is a great example though. It's hard to believe how much better that song sounds in context.

so I wasn't just dreamin this up that this one is arguably the best of their career... I've been a fan since Adrenaline (and I was an adult then... yikes I'm a wily miser)... Around the Fur was an improvement the likes of which caught me off-guard - but My Own Summer was fun to scream on the depressingly short Superman 'ride' at Six Flags... Drive showed a refreshingly hypnotic side to them... then that hypnosis with bigger soundscapes pervaded nearly all of White Pony... catchin Deftones on that tour w/ their Mike Patton 'Adult Themes for Voice' intro was surreal, but this mexi-dude in the pit needed to calm the fuck down... Glassjaw opened for them, an experimental alt-metal band in their own right - then I heard self-titled aka 'Lovers' and initially mistook their emo/post-punk/post-metal-ness as bad/inconsistent songwriting and I sorta wrote them off in my non-thinking-outside-a-box ignorance... I heard Saturday Night Wrist and liked that a little better, then Diamond Eyes was like "woah, their songwriting styles were back - but in a differently-woven fashion!" ...after some exposure to that I revisited s-t/Lovers... and well, loved it lol... Koi No Yokan I completely missed until Gore came out, and I revisited their discog... I think I like Gore a bit more than most fans did - but I'm not gonna deny that Ohms utterly destroys it... sorry, drivin drunk n high on Memory Lane and thought I'd share my mundane, boring story but hopefully one or 2 of the older heads will relate

I give out 5.0s a bit too hastily or not-quite-deserved, apparently like the reviewer here is said to - but this earns a 5 in the most profound sense possible or some shit along those lines - now it's time to be an even bigger asshole and start bumpin n blasting this shit for my appreciative neighbors! cheers

'Urantia' is also a favorite of mine. Top three track from the album for me.

"Radiant City is one of the most immediate tracks on here, rules"

Just not into that riff in the verses, weak chorus and way too repetitive.

The bass line and snare pop on 'Radiant' is so god damn good though.

Better than Koi, yes

Btw it has been said already but Frank is truly contender for MVP here, those synths elevate these songs so much

Better than White Pony? I wouldn't say so.

Better than KNY? You can definitely make the argument for that.

You could say this is their best album post-Chi.

I'm still mad at Terry Dates for putting his synths on WGTB so low in the mix though, the remastered versions on youtube sound great

His bass is finally front and center, too. Love how prevalent it is in Urantia and Radiant City.
