I think this album would be missing ~something~ if it didn't have Quiet Air / Gioia on it.
I guess you either love or you hate how it breaks the pace of the record.
It's gotta be one of my fav tracks on here

The way it fades out and ends with those chamber vocals is heavenly

Sunblind, Jara, and Going-to-the-Sun Road have gotta be my favorites. The mellow, pillowy horns in Going-to-the-Sun are sublime. I feel like I'm ascending when I listen to that song. This rivals Helplessness Blues in my opinion. This is a vastly different album than Helplessness, but very obviously made for the same people who enjoyed the later.

I keep forgetting about this album and that's not good

Over time Sunblind, Maestranza, Going to Sun Road, and Cradling Mother/Woman have had prevailing appeal, but the atmosphere of this entire thing is heavenly. Can't say I see myself 5ing this but it's definitely one of the most immediately listenable and enjoyable records of 2020.

I'm Not My Season is probably a top 5 song for 2020, for me

this album was remarkably consistent for its length, not a track i'd skip but then on the flipside no song that stood out that i'd rank in my top 20 songs of the year

yeah i agree although i found that the lack of stand out songs makes this quite boring. i'm not my season is my fave probably but even then it's not all that great

While most of the songs are definitely in what I'd consider top 50% FF (they're all good), the only ones I'd put in the ranks of top tier FF songs ever are Going to Sun Road, Cradling Mother/Woman, and Sunblind.

But then again having 3 such songs on one record is a feat, so...

was just listening to Andalucia from the new Andrew Bird album and wow it sounds pretty much exactly like Fleet Foxes
apparently it's a Christmas album and now I'm even more intrigued..

Ha, I saw that too with Hark! and it took me reviewing the song titles to reveal what it is. I'll definitely listen to it; I always like to kick off November with a SnowingSeason holiday album review.

That Andrew Bird album rules hard for the most part, also has a John Prine cover which is great

Lukewarm on a lot of this, but "Cradling Mother" is probably the best thing they've ever put to tape

the vocals are nice but also quite toothless
