Deathgrip smokes both those tbh

I feel like Deathgrip had more forgettable tracks, but the good ones are really good.

Dark Skies and Deathgrip are pretty much their peak (though C/D is up there too)
Slave to Nothing is great as well but I don't find myself returning to it as often

Slave was designed to be a more pure Metalcore release when compared to their other stuff, and deliberately roughed up the production for it, so it's not for everybody.

The clean vocals are my only gripe with it. Some of those are rough

Deathgrip is so samey, same with everything before it. These last few releases are better because they have more than just heaviness to roll back to.

I'd rather them do the same thing well than do what every one else does poorly.

I mean fair enough but most times I need more dynamic/melody and a complete pummel for 40 minutes doesn't usually get me.

I think Dark Skies at least had the right amount of variety while still being heavy enough throughout. I don't mind more variety in my 'core music if it's done well, but it's not done well in The Path

This album just isn't committed on a direction. There's a handful of radio-friendly stuff (which I didn't like), a handful of ragers (which I personally think they do much better) and then a whole load of middling, forgettable metalcore in the middle to try and join the whole thing together.
Rather ironically, they needed to choose a path.
