This comment section has gotta be top 10 for frequency of bad takes damn.

Acting like early Mis Sigs is somehow overrated when a lot of the genre's current mainstays talk about how their stuff is directly influenced by those albums. Remember Counterparts came into this genre as a wannabe Mis Sigs.

Out here acting like one of the most influential Metalcore bands of the 2000's is overrated, come on people...

1. This is the only misstep in Misery Signal's entire discog, and its not even that bad so anyone who comes in here to say the band isn't that good is a donkey-brained pleb.
2. Counterparts are awesome and deserve all the praise they get.
3. ABR sucks
There I just cleared up everything.

generally the 2nd half is better than the first (tempest is fine, sunlifter is dope but like not quite as dope as the version w karl so not rlly a win, and through vales needs waaaaaaay more added onto it to flesh it out/just shouldnt fucking be in the middle of the album), but i still dig river king the most of anything here. some dreams comes the closest but i also really like cascade locks and the fall

Some dreams is sick, cascade locks is my fave though, that lil 5 or 6 second long late 90s 7a7p style breakdown is soooooo nice

That’s what I’m trying to say. The leads on this doesn’t compare to Malice and the heaviness doesn’t even come close to touching Controller or Absent Light

It's not bad but It feels like a demo, very short with ideas that goes nowhere. Pretty disappointing from these guys. given their stream of very solid albums.

And holy shit those weak ass cleans are horrible.

MS has been my favorite band since Of Malice came out. I love every single album for different reasons. Absent Light grows on me every time I listen to it, especially the older I get. Find that album to be very very underrated considering it has so many awesome tracks and a mood that flows through the whole album.

Ultraviolet? Oof. It doesn’t even sound like they wanted to write this record. It is so lazy and boring compared to everything else and the album isn’t tied together at all for me. There’s no real heart or emotion in it for me. I’ll always love both vocalists, but Jesse did not do a great job here. I enjoy his sound and delivery overall, but man... The lyrics are downright cringy and the singing could take a whole .5 off the rating on its own.

The only songs I would really classify as MS songs are Old Ghosts, River King, and Some Dreams. Everything else I could do without. They really should’ve added another 2 full songs to this and maybe the album would be able to stand with the others, but it is far and away their worst album. So disappointing.

I think its disappointing when the time between this and their last album is taken into account-this sounds surprisingly autopilot for such a massive break. Surprised at how many people hate the clean singing on this though, I kinda dig the melancholic monotonous vibe it gives
