trif this band is so 90s, you will love this. AOSA off Futurama is basically a Hum song (and i love it so much for that ;])

Just seeing those dates already had me hyped but this is making me want to stop what I'm currently listening to and jam Heavenward immediately.

Must show some restraint.

Heavenward >>> Zebra but it's good enough that you should jam it anyway

interesting is hashtag subjective won't argue whatever but i'm surprised at beefier - outside of a few choice riffs on Astronaut I'd say DiH is way beefer in its tones and defs more densely layered

heh making magic right here

in a live setting johnny they play the zebra songs heavier so that’s where I know the songs shine better than a 1995 recording. also the interplay and feedback on it is on point and they don’t do it as much on downward, which is overall a bit lowkey and def not as beefy cuz some guitar overdriven lines are higher in the mix.

and the important part: zebra has the better riffs.

ah ok, gotcha on the live vibes - can imagine that being the case, I feel Downward played more into being a layered studio release (bet these songs will sound fking massive live on that note)

as for riffs...kinda spoiled for choice on that front lol. If You Are To Bloom is Hum's best riff song for my money, but there's a lot of strong picks and even Electra brings some decent competition

had I planned and got the money down, and if covid didn’t cancel that deftones festival gig that booked HUM, AND if I knew this was gonna sound like this

I’d go in a heartbeat. bless the radio station that played stars back in 2000 and hooked me since.

I'm 50 seconds into this record and this is basically what I think 311 would/should sound like if they hadn't taken a shit immediately after Transistor

The Weezer comparison makes more sense than that comparison tbh.

311 tune their guitars the same way, seems obvious to me. I don't hear Weezer in this at all, except maybe the vocals.

The Beatles also used the same tuning as the Dillinger Escape Plan
