Listened to this end to end for the first time in over a year the other day, expecting slightly diminished returns now that the space-lounge novelty has worn off. Shit holds up tbh, opening run is v much not their best, but the middle stretch is as good as ever and I think I fw Blue Milk through to the end more than before hmmm. Still their third best record

I’m slightly disturbed by how easily this has eclipsed all other lab bar D&L. Johnny reassuringly keeping this at #3, Trif still going strong in here…

Validation?

This one is for Escape Pod (From the World Of Medical Observations), another GOLDEN b-side, this time from the Cobra era.

This and Helium are secret gemini albums just like Eva Luna and (probably) Peng!

I have thirteen, but y'know what they say about that number. I don't wanna jinx anything.

but yes, I'm pleased to be participating now. I experienced an excited flutter the moment my eyes laid sight on their inclusion

On Parsec now, and that flutter was whoooooollllyyyyy justified even based on that track alone.

Pushes the jazzy/experimental side just a bit more than Dots and Loops, with some longer tracks. Amazing achievement. They'd never make another like this, unfortunately. Love Sound-Dust, the safer follow-up, but I kinda wish they'd kept pushing forward on full-on prog.

Took me a while to fully appreciate but Cobra is fucking amazing. Transient is beginning to elbow its way into the top tier but I doubt it will surpass Dots

Yeah, this one is a lot, but it’s fantastic and has a unique placement within their discog. It remains my second fave behind Dots. Dots is just ‘the vibe’ and eternally replay-able

I’m yet to fully grasp the wonder of Transient despite enjoying it / respecting what it brings to the table

Peng! needs more love but I do understand why it gets left behind the pack.

Peng! fucks and is supercute, but yeah between that and (esp) Mars, I understand why the discourse gravitates towards the middle of their discog

Yeah same. Those middle ones (a very long row of them) are their best.

Come and Play in the Milky Night = best bassline in the Stereolab discog Y/N?
