One of the best albums ever, period. Leaving Your Body Map doesn't hold a candle to this, yet it is still amazing.

Okay...listened to this 2 times in a row and am soo glad i did...i don't really like the opening track, but afterwards is just goodness...i really want to listen to it again...i edon't know how to describe how much the good it is...it's like if Christian Bale was a member of The Mars Volta, and Robert DeNiro acted i nall their music videos while feeding me Pizza Hut stuffed crust pepperoni pizza and a cookie dough hot fudge sunday...
This culd be a 5 if i can get into the opener and the interludes...really good though...like it's good in ways that make me feel inadequate...thank you Sputnik, even when i think you've failed me you prove me wrong 8 listens later...

Just go into some room alone, close your eyes, and listen to the album. It makes it that much better when you focus on it, seriously. And the opening track, AND interludes (especially the second one) are all amazing. The best track is either Heaven and Weak, Birth Pains, or Geography.

I have been wanting to listen to this fully for quite a while now. I tried listening to some tracks on my computer but just didn't get it. I think I should do what bodom said and I should listen to it alone in my room with my door closed.

it even says in the linear notes to listen to it with headphones and no distractions

I finally listened to this a couple times. I can easily see why people love this album and love other Toby Driver projects. It just isn't for me all that much. This album does have flashes of brilliance that I haven't heard before. Overall, it is still a pretty solid album.

I love all of Kayo Dot's work and Toby Driver's solo projects, but I just can't get into this at all...
Maybe it needs a few more listens.
Edit: Upon further listening, this album is starting to grow on me... Except for those damn cookie monster growls, they just seem too cheesy. This Message Edited On 07.04.08

I never understood why people consider "The Ferryman" a weak track. It's amazing.

Probably because its the least interesting on the album.

It's the only song on the album I feel drags a bit. The organ and the death growls at the beginning are excellent, but all the
chaotic ambience that takes up the rest of the song never really hit me as anything too great. The outro is creepy as hell, but
doesn't do much for me other than that. This Message Edited On 10.12.08

nah I'm with EC here, although the female vocals are quite on the cheesy side

I prefer Leaving Your Body Map to this, maybe it's because I just have a love for heavier music in general.

It's a great track no doubt, I just prefer all the other tracks. Heaven and Weak, Birth Pains of Astral Projection, and Geography are
all some of the best songs ever recorded imo.
@ snackarybinx - I have a love for heavier music too, but this is way better than LYBM imo. This Message Edited On 10.12.08
