The new album is barely registering as anything more than okay thus far. Yeah they’ve kinda gone for a different angle with the prod and a few beats, but also seemingly deployed a lot of very similar sounding “hooks”. A lot of the razor’s edge is missing
not sure it suits them tbh

just made it through the new veils and am not sure i can face the possibility of two middle-of-the-road offerings from bands i love in one day
times like this are when it's best to check a probable garbage act to put things back into perspective. time for (hed) p.e.

I listened to 7 albums (in full) today and I definitely enjoyed it the least. To be fair the standard was high overall. It still warrants further inspection

I don’t go super deep with this band but I liked the production on the new one (by Graham Sutton of Bark Psychosis, no less!) but I can see not being as into it if it’s not what you’re looking for from these guys. It’s def a bit closer to commercial/“poppy” indie rock than this album was.

….and I’m the person who thinks the new Veils is better than the new Bambara ;D

If you’re looking for southern goth-infused garage rock/blues, but feel like neither the new Bambara nor the new Veils deliver, jam any of the two albums by Dream City Film Club. They’re gold.

New album affirms Reid as one of my favorite living lyricists, his style is so cool.
