I liked this AND Skylight more than Cardinal ... Aphasia and Size of the Moon is the only 2 I continually go back to (don't get me wrong its still a 4 and I love every song)

But I'm an emo boy through and through! I just fell in love with the band when they were promoting Skylight, thats probably the primary reason.

Can’t believe I seem to be in the minority here but cardinal is way better than skylight and marigold to me. Audiotree live and everything so far are even better

Audiotree Live is peak Pinegrove honestly...these may be better more refined projects than Cardinal but idk I liked that balance it struck. Also discovered them before Cardinal came out...

this band helped get me into americana/almost-country music
(I still refuse to say I straight up enjoy country) but they def pushed me in that direction a little

Interesting ... The 1975 released a new song that sounds very country tinged and name drop Pinegrove and the “weird stuff” regarding them (the sexual coercion stuff)

Whaaa?
|

waiting for pinegrove's diss track in response. the great softboi beef of 2020. these are the 1975 lyrics:
"I seen your friends at the birthday party
They were kinda fucked up before it even started
They were gonna go to the Pinegrove show
They didn't know about all the weird stuff
So they just left it"

lol seems pretty benign. i'd be surprised if pinegrove even acknowledged it.

Yeah it isn't very aggressive, but knowing Healey, he probably means this in a negative way.. he just promised on twitter to only agree to play fests from now on that are 50/50 male-female acts and has always been very outspoken in that camp.
In the end, I think Pinegrove may actually gain some new fans in a weird way from curious people looking them up.
I also found it interesting that in the 1975 song they rip some Pinegrove country twang influence.
I hope Phoebe doesn't hold negative pinegrove views (shes on tour with the 1975 soon) because a dream tour of mine is Bright Eyes, Phoebe and Pinegrove (with some better oblivion played as well)
