"Come on everyone, a spiral of children climbs up to the sun" is a pretty lame hook

I could listen to the last couple minutes of Bright Horses on repeat for the rest of the year and not need another album to drop until 2020; those verses are so beautiful that they almost make my eyes well up a bit. Corny I know, but that section was so clearly meant to be an/the emotional highlight of the double album and you can really feel it.

I unashamedly teared up during Bright Horses.
also how tf you gonna diss on Sun Forest like that lol -- idk the consensus on Leviathan but I really love the atmosphere on it

Literally the only thing I don't love about Leviathan is that the lyrics get really repetitive. The atmosphere is great though, you're right about that.
Also Sun Forest is top 5 here, below only the two I mentioned above as well as Galleon Ships and Ghosteen.
Also let's not do The Spinning Song the disservice of not also mentioning that as an album highlight.
Too many damn great songs to even rank, more just tiers than anything (good, even better, and god-tier).

the underwater feel is so great. and yeah, but I think I'm starting to come around to the mantra-y lyrical style.
the only part of the record that tends to be a liiiiiittle bit grating is the lengthy falsetto at the end of Hollywood. I feel like that part would just have so much more weight if he sung it in his normal range, but maybe I'll come around to it

oh, I love that part lol

yeah his falsetto isn't very good

haha that's why I'm hoping I'll come around to it. I was stoked and actually surprised that he used that parable, cause it's one of my favorites from Buddhism, but wasn't super into the prolonged falsetto. Like I love it throughout the rest of the record, but that one felt just a little too much

"yeah his falsetto isn't very good"
I agree that it's not as good as his regular singing voice, but I think it adds valuable contrast. If he just sang the whole album monotone it'd be less appealing IMO.
