i don't find this review particularly hyperbolic (the actual reasons presented are straight-forward), besides which hyperbole in a review is harder to evaluate considering the natural subjectivity of aesthetic judgment, and it doesn't take me a great stretch of the imagination to see why someone would genuinely have these thoughts about this album (which is all that really matters, yes? hyperbole's greatest offence is arguably its disingenuousness)

I'm not actually trying to be snotty here but why would a guy with a 4.5/5 think that a 2/5 is reasonable/acceptable. I think the point I'm trying to make is consistency.

I'm all for guys rating this whatever the fuck they want but if you think a 2/5 is acceptable then shouldn't that 4.5 you're sitting on be a 2? By all means if you can justify a 5/5, then have a 5/5 but a 5 isn't a 3 or a 1.5 or even a 4. Much like a 2 isn't a 1 or a 4.5. Are you picking up what I'm putting down?

ramon.

Because a guy who’s rated an album due to liking certain things about it can also simultaneously acknowledge that someone else might find those aspects to be serious flaws? Someone’s digit rating of a record isn’t indicative of everything they think about it.

nocte, you know some people rate albums with their own opinion, while also being mindful that there is most likely other opinions to be had, right? lol

I figured as much but for a bunch of guys getting so worked up about me dropping a 1 on this and what that "means" I don't really see how they can see a 2 without acknowledging a 1 for the same reasoning you just eloquently laid out.

I could be reading too much into it. Good thing there's guys like Mars, ramon and Clavier kicking around with any amount of level-headiness.
