Glad you loved it, definitely my favorite of the year and probably one of my top albums of the decade, too.

This has held up through everything and remains one of my faves despite the odd grating moment, there’s a couple of difficult to digest vocal parts essentially, ear-piercing stuff, but most of it is absolutely golden.

Blue Crystal Fire is a stunner

Sure is. Opening lyrical phrase reminds me of Bjork, then it transitions into something else entirely.

This album is really something special.

This would be haunting at noon on a sunny cloudless day. I'll leave room to bump that rate.

Had always thought of this as a jam for overcast spooky hills but cloudless noon is on the money too. Makes me think of Meshes of the Afternoon or some shit

I mean that the chills are earned through organic performance and don't require a manufactured atmosphere for set up. Not that I envision that as some ideal listening environ.

'Makes me think of Meshes of the Afternoon or some shit'

Given that Deren's originally intended print is completely silent, it would be interesting to overlay this and see how it goes. You'd have to loop Meshes about four times to make it through the album, though haha.

'This would be haunting at noon on a sunny cloudless day.'

Funny you mention that. First time I heard this was mid-Summer last year, was taking my son for a walk around the neighborhood in his stroller. Was blazing hot (of course he was all protected with his stroller's visor and whatnot) and I remember sweating my ass off, feeling my skin getting warmer, jamming to this full blast.
