It's even tougher to avoid discussions on singles. ''I don't want to listen to the song, but it's harmless to read what others think about it'' is a trap, because (anti)hype still works if you participate in the discussion. And f*ck me, now I want to listen to that riff on 3:36 because user x says it's awesome.

TOTALLY agreed Myth, the same thing happened with the album art on this thread, *ahem Lunatic ;). That's the risk with reading comments because it can skew your pre-conceived notions of the album. The last album is my least fav POS but I still want to remain excited about this

I used to love this album. Listened to it recently, and it was cloyingly dramatic. Had to switch it off.

I guess you are not wrong. Daniel has a tendency to be theatricaL and takes his experiences seriously in a melodramatic way. That said, it still escapes from being cheese, and the compositions are just so well thought out, that the album manages to pull off even teenage levels of emotional expression (see Second Love).

Yeah, record (most of their stuff save Scarsick really) gets away with some of the corniness cause it all feels genuine. The killer music behind it don’t hurt either
