The most disappointing record of this century...Being a long time fan of the band... growing up with SIAMESE DREAMS and GISH.....I just have to erase the album from my memory

i actually do prefer Monuments to this - kinda surprising they couldn't better it giving the return of Iha & Chambs
maybe volume 2 can save it

Album Rating: 3.3
Monuments is wayyyyy better than this
|

i didn't like this , but i will say theres some interesting guitar work on the album, like in the first song, i like that bizarre solo, if you can call it that.
|
| |
by the way the drumming sucks on this, surprisingly, some of the most tame playing Chamberlain has ever done.

ever seen that video on what quantizing would do to John Bonham's drums? apply that to Jimmy Chamberlin x10 and voila: Shiny & Oh So Bright Volume 1

I haven't listened to this since it came out, essentially. Thinking about dropping my rating to a 2.5. I think this is my second least favorite pumpkins record, behind Zeitgeist

The opener here, Ghosts, and Solara are great but I come back to this by far the least out of any pumpkins

Album Rating: 2.5
God, I hate that opener so much haha. Like, probably my least favorite Pumpkins song ever

wow Zeitgeist destroys this

Yeah Zeitgeist is actually pretty decent imo. Only Pumpkins albums I don’t like are this and Monuments.

its such a shame because they are a great band live, they play well together but none of that energy is captured on this overly produced shite. in the 90's you could at least hear the energy of the band. if you know what i mean
|
| |
by the way i really like Gish's production. Sounds very jammy. of course that also has to do with the band's songwriting, but imagine this album with Gish's production. Maybe it would sound more like a real band playing.
