Watch it guys, say anything of the sort & you’ll likely get condescending responses from the elite & enlightened Sput collective... also maybe some offensive insults

Why you never listened to Enya Arcade?

dw to anyone who doesn't like this, it'll inevitably still be in the top 10/15 for the end-year list :^)

Sure it will - it's the Bjork 'Utopia' of 2018
Anyone still listen to that?
If so...only on sput ;)

An apt comparison, reminiscent in more ways than one.

I’ve never jammed Bjork but I love this either way.

You might dig actually, but I recommend her earlier works. The reason Utopia was ref'd is because it sits at 70 minutes & is comparatively formless with a lot of 'bird noises'... I don't necessarily see that as a good thing & Doof was implying the same I believe.

I most certainly was, I do prefer this to ‘Utopia’ though.
There’s a decent enough 30-35 minute album hidden here - not so ‘Utopia’

This album splashes in all directions and I'm kinda loving it.

Agreed Doof, I can't get much out of Utopia but I like a significant part of this. Admittedly this has more grating moments than Utopia as well which leaves me conflicted.

Exactly Demon - which is why they both ended up on the same rating for me

Utopia is a 2.5 for me, this is tentatively hanging on to a 3 because I need to revisit. It's difficult finding 7 hours to hear it in full.

There's logic and artistry behind both albums sure, but there's nothing duller than a 'soundscape album' where you don't feel any connection or life within it.
If you don't want to explore that soundscape you're f*cked as there's not a lot else more 'conventionally songful' there.
I find both albums conjure up a similarly dispiriting, naff and (most critically) tedious 'sonic world'.
If you do connect with these soundscapes you're off to a flyer and will probably enjoy every minute.

The second half of this album does have some more 'songful' bits and pieces - if it started at track 6 then I'd prob up my score to a 3/5 as that would get rid of 75% of the 'pointless as far as I'm concerned' stuff in one fell swoop
