Love the vibe of this album, 4/5 on first listen
I'm a sucker for this band anyway, yea and Gaza rule too

some great tracks and vocal delivery here, singer growl is monstruous. However I agree with the poor spacing of the songs, middle and final parts of the album are weaker imo. Too bad, cause the first 3 tracks of the album are fucking incredible

I'm really enjoying this. To: Achlys really moved me when I heard it as a single so I knew I wouldn't mind the softer songs at all. I agree with the criticism of A World of Joy coming right after it though. Also the drumming is excellent.

Not sure why I find the cover to be so grotesque. My buddy drove an hour to the only record store in the north half of Ohio to get a copy of the LP because they had a first press and he ordered a second press?

I admit that the contrast between the soft tracks and the heavier ones is a bit too much, but I think its only cause the heavy tracks are indeed heavy as fuck me twice lolol

too bad cause this album had the potential to be a masterpiece I think, but they fucked it up a bit

the album would've been a much more cohesive listen if they spaced longer tracks between some of the heavier ones. Achyls followed by A World of Joy is damn near a 10 minute Kozelek track. Then ending the album with a seven minute and 6 minute track right after the 3 bangers before it is a tough listen.

Agreed hard. I think I really loved this on first listen because I was excited but it's not as good now that the excitement has worn off a bit.

The biggest issue I have with this record is the first two slow songs being back to back on the record. Absolutely kills any momentum

"Nah still whips for me"
yeah...most ppl here enjoyed this and loves Cult Leader, we're just commenting the setback preventing it from more 4's and 4,5's lol
|

yea, it's the track list that's hurting the album and not the quality of the songs themselves but this is still a beast

I'm on the debut now and fuck me - Good Life is a perfect example how to fit a calmer part among the more heavy tracks m/

I'd probably put this juuuuuust a hair above Lightless Walk, both are solid 8s/10 for me though

Really enjoyed this, but I definitely see the "two halves, one spirit" issue.
