The criticism with each album is exactly the same - they're bland and the sound just sort of washes over you in a fuzzy sort of way.

@budgie, Panda Riot has female vox, Life on Venus has male/female, Shelling has Jap female vox, and Fazerdaze.
@doof, Fazerdaze is too happy and youthful for old people, so yeah. I'm not against people liking this album though.
EDIT: Sorry Doof, I take that back. This kind of music fits ur taste better I guess. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

hi so I got from the S/T-Teen Dream and was relatively bored? not terribly a fan of her singing; instrumentation sounded like typical indie pop with a 60s worship shtick and idk just reminded me of all the shit the hippie kids back in high school would jam like Merriweather Post Pavilion and BMSR like it was the closest shit to God you could experience.
will try this now and work my way back LIKE I HAD PLANNED TO ttyl xoxo

Or more like, I let this play in the background and didn't get any feeling whatsoever.

'I let this play in the background'
perrhaps try actually listening to it then

I’ve given this like 5 active listens and it still hasn’t clicked so
|

this was worse on second listen. it's like that cigarettes after sex album from last year except without strong melodies and songwriting.

I did, it's not like I just played it in the background expecting it to grow on me. Even after listening to this properly listening to this album the 3rd time, I still feel the same way when it was played on the background.
Although, this is actually the first time I'm listening to a Beach House album. I thought this was going to be a specialty band after seeing this being relatively well-known. But, all I got is some whitewashed dream pop act that tries to make it sound as palatable as possible. It's like an act of a specific genre targeted for people who aren't really into the genre. Let's see if other BH album would prove me wrong.
And yet, I didn't say that this is terrible or anything, just some average dream pop album with few remarkable tracks.

I left it 24 hours and then the mood of some of the tracks suddenly drew me in - esp the opener and closer. Woo, Drunk and Frenchy time I already liked - the two songs after drunk have a great atmosphere too.
What I will say - I doubt this would make a top 20 of the year for me at this point five months in, so I’m def not feeling any AOTY claims
