for some reason this album makes me extremely conflicted, I don't know if I should let myself be sucked in by the pretty atmospheres or not (esp. on the binaural mix)

Of course you should. That's the point of atmospheric stuff.

Yea, that's exactly the point. It's kinda like a 5.1 mix for people without a 5.1 system

duno man, always have the feeling that ppl downr8 bands like TT on purpose. ya kno cuz its one of 'those bands'. whatever made them think that.

ppl also need to stop putting this record on, expecting to hear an altered st. #2. like i genuinely believe most ppl on this site - apart from the obvious trols and "music died with jesus, fuq dat newfaq BS" pseudo elitists - know how to consume music the proper way. and this is literally the single most idiotic and noob thing to do. rly nigguh?

back on track: all i see here is a pack of skilled musicians creating something pretty unique. rly like this record so far, the shortness of it leaves me with a "want more bruh" feelin. thats a plus. cant think of many bands sounding alike. if any actually. also while theres plenty of what many of u would call "djent chugging" on here, TT for me at least managed to take this whole djent-crap (man i rly h8 this term) a step further. for me this record doesnt even feel like anything id typically associate with 'djent'.

2 more things:

- TT is not a band that should play @ day @ open air festivals. its horrible just stahp.

- dan needs to utilize those wicked screams/shouts more. hes good at it, even my gf finally got into that whole scream/shout thingy because of him and started to appreciate it. its something.

Fuck it. I fucking love this thing. If an album's biggest problem is that I want more of it, well that's a pretty good thing. Its probably like a 4.2, but I'm rounding up in this case.

King, Juno and Smile are all top-tier Tesseract, and the closest thing to a skippable for me is Luminary just because I feel like the bookend-heavy-ass riff doesn't quite fit with the rest of the song, which would have felt right at home on Polaris.

And fuck man, those synths on Smile.

It's certainly not their best, but it's a bit of a stretch to rank this lower than Polaris. Now that album was a disappointment.

Don't understand the context of releasing Smile a year early either, they hinted it was just a one off track and it didn't represent the direction the band was heading in.

Man, this is better and better with every listen.. "Lumminary" is very good, "King" is one of their best songs, "Orbital" is nice, "Juno" is great (start is fucking heavy, then the groove throughout the whole song is fantastic), "Beneath My Skin" and "Mirror Image" aren't as good as other songs on the album, but still good with nice moments and good atmosphere.. "Smile" is fucking brilliant, oh god how I love that song and "The Arrow" has only one problem, that its really too fucking short.. really, the problem with "The Arrow" is the only problem that I have with the whole album - it there would be maybe 2 more songs and in the style of "King" or "Smile" or "Juno", this would be a monster of an album for me.. right now, it's my favorite of them with "Altered State"

"One" has some really great moments and songs, but it has some of the shortcomings of a debut album and some "Djent" cliche moments, but still it's a strong album.. "Polaris" is, average? For one half of the songs I don't care, the other half is good but there's probably not a single truly memorable moment in the whole album in my opinion..

"Sonder" is so much better, it has hard, heavy moments, it has great slow, atmospheric moments, great vocal perfomance - so far the best perfomance from Daniel I have ever heard.. I truly don't understand people who are giving this album average or worse ratings, this album has some much more energy and power then their last album and just overall better songwriting and perfomances, but whatever.. I'm loving this more and more every day, so I have a reall good time with this album and this is my first album of this year to be a contender for AOTY
