Yeah, touring on Viet Cong. It was one of the best sets I've seen.

Oh shit that's pretty sweet, I'm almost a little disappointed that I only got into them last year, but their current show is still so good

This is really fucking good for a straight up post punk record, and it's almost insulting how low the average rating is. So what if this isn't the same band it was 3 years ago? And for the claim that this lacks uniqueness, what do you expect? You said it yourself that this is closest they've come to their formula perfected. Someone please explain to me what I'm wrong about here. You're entitled to your own opinions, just my two cents. I just don't see how these claims make it a mediocre record.

" And for the claim that this lacks uniqueness, what do you expect?"
for them not to shamelessly lift stuff other bands did twenty/thirty-odd years ago? Not that difficult, you know.

man what, Doubt was one of my favorite tracks on this.

Okay what exactly is this 'shamelessly lifting' and how does that make it a failure? Last time I checked bands do this all the time. Inquisition sounds like Immortal, Television sounds like The Fall, cue every alternative rock band ever etc.

Yeah, I'm really sad that these guys won't drop another record like Viet Cong. The closer is a total dud. Interesting ideas all over but they seldom go anywhere.

compliance is the second best thing on here though
|
| |
Compliance sounds like an unfinished idea and the fact that they just turned up the saturate knot on it progressively to finish the album means that they didn't really know what to do with it.
Disarray and Decompose are probably the best thing here. Cool drum beats.

I don't listen to this much anymore, but I still think it's a really great easy listen. Compliance is really good imo, far from my favourite on the album adn I agree that it should have gone somewhere, but still feels good to finish with it
