Yeah, it's been an excellent year for music so far imo.

"The bolding of albums on rym is always interesting. I think they lowered the ceiling for when an album gets bolded on Sonemic, but now that I check, there are no albums bolded there :P

I've also seen albums that are supposedly top 10k but without bolded. A large amount of ratings is usually the way to go to get an album bolded, as you stated. My favorite example is Yeezus. "

Truuue man, I see a lot of those too. But like Anthracks said, maybe it's top 5k. And wow, good call on Yeezus, I never noticed that before. It's an even more extreme case than Absolution.

Hell this might be a 4.5, it's so well rounded and varied.

This is the first time I've enjoyed death metal this much. Which band are these guys most derivative of?

I hear similarities with Opeth, Septicflesh, Gorija, Mastodon, and then some individually great stuff like the low clean vocals in War Squids

The drum work on War Squids and the way it works with the riffs makes me moist, god damn.

The ride cymbal gets on my nerves, but it's a minor detail. The album is pretty interesting.

I can understand that. It adds character to the playing for me, though.
