I heard them on some British TV show and the host called them "ack-er-COCK-uh", but that's kind of Briticized. And also I have no idea if he can be trusted.

The cleans have proven really divisive amongst everyone who's listened to Renaissance in Extremis. For me personally, I appreciate the raw, bitter and honest "feel" those vocals give off. I recently listened to this album a couple more times on the way back home from work (usually at night) and the experience felt brilliant. Like one of the earlier comments stated, this is a real grower.

Yeah I like them. But I recognize that Mendonça is no great singer - he just knows how to do what he does and what to do with it. And that's no small feat.

Just got the 2LP Red vinyl gatefold of this last night. Damn this record is so good! These guys have created a totally different and completely new style of music. Songwriting A+, Performances A+, Total Package A++.
