Played this again tonight. It’s a safe album, no real surprises, but it’s dam solid. Can’t wait to see what they do next - after their long tour.

do people really go to Agalloch for surprises? I go to them for a familiar place. Ashes and Marrow were the only real curveballs they ever threw.

Faustian Echoes was pretty different from their normal stuff too lol. And their early EPs were a bit more on the black metal side than the folk side

each of their albums have their own thing going on, including the EPs. maybe nothing drastically different from each other, but definitely enough change to keep things interesting. except for Serpent though.

I really enjoyed this. John did fantastic job on vocals here. This has very primal spirit, Agalloch have not explored this territory.

Awesome review, and big fan of your commitment to the comment section.

Spinning this for the first time now, hope it doesn't suck like John Haughm's brony fellowship.

Great album. I'm benefitting so hard from this Agalloch breakup, turns out they all do way better work when they play in entirely different bands
