There were 18K likes on a Shinoda Instagram repost of a positive "they haven't sold out" review. Linkin Park needs to come out of the mainstream pop closet

holy moly, is this really so bad? I mean, the average is pretty telling but I hesitate whether to listen at all or not. I mean, the hunting party was pretty well-received and all

Regardless of whether you like their music, the whole "they've sold out" thing every time a new linkin park album comes out is pretty silly considering they're already filthy rich and have been for quite a while.

Check the producers involved in the songs and that will tell you how bad is the album.

This album sounds worse because it came after THP, which is arguably the most "rock/metal" and generally well-received LP have been since Meteora.

Halfway Right is the worst Linkin Park song ever created

Please dont ever mention "mashup" again, the ep with Jay-z was atrocious. Since that ep, LP started to die for me.

"Sign of the Times is not trap... Like at all. The song is basically the best Bowie worship I have ever heard"

My bad, I misread the question. I was meaning to classify that song as a non-trap pop song, at least that's how I view it

Maybe it helps that I don't listen to any other pop really, so this is all fresh to me. Naivety is bliss.

@conditionals

The main songs I've been listening to lately that are on the Billboard Hot 100, are just songs off DAMN., Despacito (I don't even like the song, it's just stuck in my head) or Harry Styles' album, so I guess I'm in the same boat as you lol

@Raylan, man you're really pushing this Harry Styles album huh? I'll check it out, though I was always more a Louis man myself.

yeah, talking about them "selling out" is pretty funny, considering that they've been huge ever since fucking hybrid theory

Soilwork can sell out (and they did with stabbing the drama), but not these guys.

if they ever sold out it was with M2M, because it's hard to sell out again and again when you already compromised your sound

but yeah I agree, they've been pretty damn monetarily successful across the entire length of their careers

M2M is EASILY their sellout point, no question about it.

Or maybe it was Collision Course...

Is selling out even really a thing anymore? When was the last time a band majorly changed their sound to what they thought the public wanted and was actually rewarded for it with more sales?

IMO the mainstream bends to accept a certain band's sound, rather than being accomodating of a massive change to a more popular style from that band.

hard to sell out when you've always been a group of trendhopping fuckheads who control the direction the band wants to go in simply based on what's popular. all this is is the saddest attempt of it
