For liking it when Agalloch made more tonally consistent albums rather than the genre free for all that Mantle and Ashes were?

Why do you say albums plural? They only made 1 album before The Mantle. And I would have been fine with them recycling Pale Folklore their whole career but I'm glad they didn't.

Couple things: EPs are albums as well. Also Marrow and Serpent are far more consistent than Mantle and Ashes as well, less bloated.

Agalloch’s EPs are for sure my faves though, since they tend to be way more laser-focused than the full-lengths

Agreed about the EPs. But Marrow being less bloated than Mantle and Ashes? I love that album, but what the fuck?

Thing is, I could actually stomach listening to Serpent.

I’ve never been able to finish a listen of The Mantle. It’s worse than boring. It’s actively bad.
