What about me

Kusangii might have me beat to that claim since he's been around longer but I like to think I'm the loudest by far lol
They're my favorite artist, no question. They've never made compromises for fame or cashed in. They have continuously experimented--to a fault, at times--and never settled for a status quo. It has been so amazing to follow them for years and hear them evolve over every single release while still consciously retaining their trademark guitar tone and keyboard dynamic.
It takes a long time to hear a new album, but look what happens! Love it or hate it, it sparks instant discussion across all fans from all nations. Few bands can create that much conversation in the underground.
What's ultimately sad is that these guys have been in the game for a long time, releasing incredible material every time, and have yet to hit it big. Look at this fucking photo: https://www.facebook.com/uktechfest/photos/a.254305474613602.62450.238162749561208/1424294310948040/?type=3&theater
Their billing is so insignificant it hurts. CHELSEA GRIN IS BILLED HIGHER THAN THEM AT A TECH FESTIVAL.

Why the fuck is Chelsea Grin at Techfest?
Anyways, of all the bands I've discovered through this website, Persefone are by far the best and most interesting. It really is a shame that one has to immerse themselves in the progressive death metal corner of an obscure music website to discover not only them, but also other immensely talented and creative artists. The music industry can be such a downer.

I completely agree Marskid! I'm happy to see this album getting the respect it derserves. Sorry about my hateful comments earlier. I don't care what Jac says. I just don't like people giving Persefone bad ratings and weak ass reviews..

Poor Virvum is stuck down there too along with The Royal
All three get lower billing under Chelsea, Hacktivist and Humanity's Last Breath
Even though Persefone has an amazing career, Virvum had one of the best albums of last year and The Royal are modern metalcore done justice

Yea I feel that. Only band I could put in the same sentence as them on that poster is Obscura, given I don't know the bands in the lower part of the poster. That show is a great opportunity for them to have a headline performance.
Edit: oh I didn't see Virvum, that would be sweet to be a part of too.
Ah I gotta start making my way to some of these European festivals.

I don't believe any of Jac's comments came from place of outward hatred or negativity. He simply has a difference in taste and opinion. There's no problem with that

That reminds me, I still need to check out that Virvum record.

Virvum are awesome my man.
Black Dahlia and Aborted aren't really tech either but they're good bands so they get a pass

BDM are one of my favorites but yeah, wouldn't really call them tech death either. I guess the festival isn't really picky

I hope so. I just think his views on prog metal bands is biased. My cursing was uncalled for but I can state my opinion bro. XD

Have you guys listened to Born of Osiris new album yet?

I def think Jac's got a more, dare I say, 'elite' taste in metal. Holds the genre up to his own standards that I sometimes think are unfairly high
By the end of the day, it's music. We're all naturally biased.

Not all that in to Born of Osiris, but there's a band called Shokran that I think does the BoO style quite a bit more justice. If you're a BoO fan then definitely check out their most recent record. Really good stuff

Part of what makes music so fascinating to me is that there is such a diversity of opinion on any given album. Everyone always has a different view on every single piece of an album and its individual tracks, whether they love them or hate them.
I know it's a cliche when you describe yourself as someone who loves music since everyone says it, but when I say it I really fucking mean it. I don't know where I'd be if I didn't get so involved within what I listen to and discovering new stuff and being open to new things.
To diverge a bit, I'll say that I think it's important to keep an open mind with music. It's too easy to negatively stereotype genres and close yourself off from it. I used to hate rap music and now I have one rated 4.5. You never know when you'll be surprised my man.

Ooooo I LOVE Shokran! The singers voice is exotic and their instrumentals are phenomenal! Yes that's very true bro. I get rilled up about defending Persefone sometimes lol.

I'll defend them to my grave too brother, the boys have worked their asses off for 10+ years and haven't hit the big stage yet. It's a fucking crime.

I think Aathma is my favorite album because of the elegant piano and outstanding riffs. I love it as much as Shin-Ken. Holy balls..
