Well what the hell, I think it's ready. I don't think it adds a lot new points but yeah it's ready so why not.

Agreed with point that the songs are more varied. Contrary to popular opinion(?) I think they just keep improving on each album. I like their minimalistic approach to metal songwriting and believe they deserve all the acclaim they're given.

"I think they just keep improving on each album."

i agree for the first 4 albums, not so much the last 2, but i can definitely see why you'd feel that way.

either way i think this album is a step in the right direction

I probably dig L'enfant more but if they continued in that vein for this record it would've been undoubtedly a bit stale.

L'enfant sauvage is probably my fav Gojira record, but I can see this being on par with it if not better given time. Also, agreed that this would have been stale had it been l'es 2.0 so this is most definitely a welcomed change of direction.

im actually digging this one, elephant sausage was a big misstep for me, it felt like gojira gone full post come clarity in flames style

this one actually sounds like gojira again instead of gojira lite

that's funny considering this new one basically sounds like terra incognita x l'enfant sauvage, with a less aggressive sound

i dont think so. sounds like a cross between the link and from mars to me tbh. elephant sausage just sounded too clean and streamlined and generic.

this one has some of their signature bits that made them good to begin with.

i mean the riffs might as well be taken from one or the other, stylistically

and then a few simple bland ones

i mean im not one to really argue with you about blandness in metal considering like 90% of metal is bland to me these days but elephant sausage was boring enough to me to skip through and this one i havent felt that need.
