I think this album is brilliant, definitely stronger overall than Dead End Kings, and not far off being as good as Night is the new day and Great Cold Distance.
However its definitely taken 4+ solid listens for me to truly appreciate it. I love they have incorporated some heavier more progressive elements.
There is some real sublime moments, but I think its such a solid album. Serac, Serein, Takover, Old Heart Falls, Shifts in particular I love.
This is a really great album by one of the best in the business.

I don't have seasons in my country, so what can I say? I do believe that an especific album could have a greater impact, but as I say, it has to be an especific album. For example I guess Agalloch's The Mantle would be awesome on winter. That doesn't apply to every record and that's my point.

Reisdual has a masterfully made climax. The cut up guitar sections towards the end are sublime. They are what kept me returning to the song.
