Who here says that all other rap is shit? I don't pretend to know anything about rap, but as the stereotypical listener to Aesop Rock, there's a quality that separates his music from most rap I've heard. It reminds me of what I already listen to, and I can honestly relate to it more than I can to other rap (I'm not black, I don't live in a low income area, more stereotypes, etc.). That's not to say that I think all other rap is shit, or that I have no empathy-it's to say that I can relate most to this music and enjoy this most from what I've heard.
We like what we hear, and if that offends you so much, or if you get some sort of pleasure from shitting on it, then I guess there's no reasoning with you.
