The t/t to this is nice, but still, nothing is grabbing me a whole lot.

I'm not on here to troll but rather, looking for console. Ah man, haha. Deftones are my favorite therapists. Now I'm needing therapy because my Docs aren't supplying that good RX with this one. I don't get how people are calling this the best Deftones album, when none of these songs would even crack my top 30 Deftones list.

I'd love nothing more than to agree with that Ov but it's painfully obvious that Stephen wasn't allowed to unleash on this album. When it comes to the lyrical content, I mean, there are lines here and there but it seems quite watered down to me. I've always gotten a kick out of "solving the riddles" in deftones songs, this doesn't offer much to dig in to.
I like doomed user and hearts/ wires but the rest are pretty boring to me. I hear what you're saying about flow, etc but a great album needs classics. There are no Passenger, be quiet, rx queen, 7words, dai the flu, pins & needles, knife party, my own summer, you've seen the butcher, etc. Nothing remotely close to that level on here.

Should I listen to this or Mariner first?

Plus Steph hasn't been pushed up this far in the mix since Adrenaline.

Heavier and crazier!? Bahahaha. Oh man. There is nothing heavy about Gore. Doomed User gave us a little to bang out to but these are like lullabies compared to the other albums.

But that album's so heavy man. Nu metal riffs everywhere!

"Engine No. 9" and "7 Words" are still jams.

"Doomed User" oh I get it. The verse riff sounds like it could be from the game.

Adrenaline is my favorite, lots of memories of madness in the moshpits. I can appreciate some of their slower work as well. As long as they have that creepy, enchanting, crazy vibe going. I'm just not getting that off of this album. Every new deftones album release is like a spiritual experience for me. So, now that I can't stand most of Gore, I just don't know how to handle this. Unfamiliar territory for me to be in. O.o

I honestly appreciate that this isn't heavy for the sake of being heavy. The heavy moments are there for a reason, and therefore they carry a lot more weight and make more of an impression.

Agreed Ebola
I found the singles definitely grow when listened to in the context of the album. I liked Prayers/Triangles well enough when it came out, but now it might be among my favorites on here.

Ha, here we go. Are you that insecure, that you just sit back, waiting behind your keyboard for every crack at being Mr. Relevant, with your corny jokes? I'm on here to debate music, rate an album etc.
