I’ve gone chronologically from Closing Time! It’s been a long journey.

Oh, my bad, I misunderstood. He has a lot of similar vibes on the run from Swordfish to Frank, but those also have more ballads and cabaret-inspired melodies. Bone Machine goes further in terms of experimentation, it is quite unique. I don't think any of his other records are very similar to this one.

well, when I see my parents fight, I don't wanna grow up
they all go out and drinking all night and I don't wanna grow up
I'd rather stay here in my room - nothin' out there but sad and gloom
I don't wanna live in a big old tomb on Grand Street, oohh
when I see the 5 o'clock news, I don't wanna grow up
they comb their hair and shine their shoes - I don't wanna grow up
stay around in my old hometown, I don't wanna put no money down
I don't wanna get me a big old loan, work them fingers to the bone
I don't wanna float a broom, fall in love and get married, then boom
how the hell did it get here so soon - II DOONN'T WAANNNNAAAA GROOOOWWW UUUUUUUUPPPP

If his stuff isn’t vibing with you anymore I don’t know if this will change your mind, but this is easily one of my favorites. Have you jammed Orphans?

Yeah, I still dig this. It’s perhaps harder to grasp as an overall journey than Swordfish or Rain Dogs tho as I’m keying in on single tracks (from memory) & also again today (In The Coliseum, Whistle Down the Wind are great!)

Gonna check a couple I haven’t heard next. I’m thinking Frank’s Wild Years & Mule Variations.

Yeah, I love the experimentation on this one! One of the best Waits records, along with Frank’s Wild Years.

if you don't like subdued Waits then you're gonna flip when you get to Mule Variations cos that's all the album does lol (I mean some of it is still good but it lacks a lil excitement to me)
