tbf this took kind of a while to hit me. i think i gave it like a 3-3.5 at first and now its a top 5 all timer lol. the outstanding guitar work and songwriting is def what won me over first this has the best guitar work ive ever heard. i love matteo now but he was a bit of an acquired taste (tho ive always really liked his singing)

Novelists has always been the progcore band with the most overall talent imo. Their guitarists write some stupidly good complex parts that go from gorgeous leads to nasty riffs to hard breakdowny type shit so seamlessly. Matteo's smooth as butter voice mixed with his pretty vicious and forceful harshes is such a killer combo that fits perfectly with the instrumentation. I love their songwriting too, they aren't afraid to lean into the softer stuff or just go full on heavy, and they have a vocalist who can tackle both expertly
