Yes I know where you coming from, buddy. It becomes even embarassing in some songs. It's like you'd close your eyes without knowing exactly if it's a Wilson song or a Riverside one. But even there, I'm unable to giving it less than a 3.5 for its enjoyable moments.

Old school riverside was darker and more mysterious, with dynamic and intelligent songwriting. That's what made me love the band. Now it feels too safe. Enjoyable but safe

Yup, that's what it is - the dark mystery is missing. But, I'm still digging this album... and I think change is life's ~refresh~ button, so I can't harp on a band stretching a bit.

For me this one is the best prog. rock albums in 2015 and most likely will be the same in the decade (early tosay though). Riverside stepped to a next level in song-writing and found their cohesive sound. The atmosphere of the music is unique on the album. Certainly the band has now the Riversidish sound.

haha, nice one Omair.
Seriously though, this album is an ode to summer in the same way the first three were about autumn and S.O.N.G.S. was more wintery... It's just perfect for what it is.

The album is pleasant enough, but I'm worried that they're just going to continue in this direction without really taking any risks.

who knows? They're still fresh. Remember, the reason that REM is considered to be mediocre by many is because it's the third consecutive album in the same vein as the others. That, however, says nothing about the album as it is. I try to think the same about F,L&tTM, as well as SONGS. They will change, they have to change because Duda is a man with many influences and just can't keep them inside.

I agree with Omair in this one. I'm worried too.

This is the first Riverside album I've listened to and I absolutely loved it.
So I went and got SONGS, but was dissapointed. Which other album by Riverside would you guys recommend or are they all along the same lines as SONGS ?
