Disagree hard on antidotes being their best album. But if you're into math-rock/pop I guess it's better than the other albums.

TLF has 0 amount of wankery going on. Except maybe "Black Gold" but it's fucking awesome nonetheless.

Don't hear any wank in this band, Spanish Sahara and Black Gold is the greatest thing ever. Albatross is also one of the best songs they ever wrote. Snake Oil is just an indie interpretation of the Black Sabbath sound, like Arabella from AM by Arctic Monkeys.

^ I was with you until you went batshit on the "black Sabbath" sound xD

What do you mean, that's the least opinionated thing I said haha. It's pretty obvious if you've ever heard Sabbath's earlier records, along with the similarities with Arabella, which is widely considered a War Pigs reinterpretation/throwback/tribute/takeyourpick

Holy fire is their weakest imo (still good). But tbh I doubt that TLF/Antidotes are really up your ally, as far as I remember you like your indie stuff a bit more on the somber/darker side.

Yeah Arabella = War Pigs agreed. But Snake Oil doesn't sound like Black Sabbath to me at all.

Holy Fire is their weakest release but still great oc. You should jam Total Life Forever asap, it's my favorite album of the past 5+ years. It combines indie, dance, post-rock, and pop together with incredible atmospherics that just really does it for me. Davey also gave it 4.5, read his review and my soundoff if you wanna know more but I say just jam it and experience the amazingness for yourself.

didn't see Radical's post 'til I posted, haha there's hardly any dance in TLF it's just some of the drumming style. It's more proggy than dance though, at least imo. Davey's right about TLF though, it's a modern classic.

i don't think i agree with davey on any album, his taste is seriously shockingly bad for staff standards

That's harsh. (And also incorrect since I remember that you love "Funerals" by Arcade Fire and I know that's one of Davey's all time favs)

What about Streetlight Manifesto and both giving a 5/5 to Arcade Fire's Funeral? Edit: ^ya what he said.

What's the point in having multiple writers on the staff if they all essentially have the same opinions? I think Davey does a fine job reviewing and justifying his scores.

'This album feels like a big let down to me.'

See I would agree but I can't say I was expecting much to begin with
