@bloc Symphony X itself has a few better than that imo
I wish Michael would produce albums with the sound quality of Paradise Lost

New album when? These guys basically get better with age which is unheard of in prog metal

You think that? Interesting. They should probably release the album next year. New Fates Warning album then as well
|
| |
It's an odd thing in prog metal, but this guys are like the Benjamin Button of it. I'm always looking forward to new material.
|
| |
Yea, these guys have never released anything below average.

Yup, as much as I'm not a huge fan of this album, it's still better than most of prog we get every year. And the sentiment is still strong, this is a band that got me into prog with their odyssey song

Yeah band was truly elite in their hayday

They're still damn solid

Just a bit formulaic, especially since they can compose much more dynamic songs

It's like anybody doing anything at the elite level....there's a relatively small window where they're at the top. Time eats everyone. SX no different.

If this was the only SX album I ever heard, I'd think it was monumental and a solid 5.0. But I've been a fan since the early days and I think the past few albums are fantastic despite an obvious repeating formula; however this one repeats the formula but some of the songs seem a notch below what came before. I don't mind a formulaic sound if I happen to love the sound, but I also need the tunes to be at a high level, which I know is not always easy to achieve...

Damn, I have to say, for the first time; I tgink this Symphony X album legitemately sucks. Super formulaic, recycled riffs, pseudo-heaviness with way too many boring power metal choruses (Disclaimer: I donβt enjoy power metal, so the Symphony X albums with a lot of power metal influence are the weakest to me). What happened? Also seems like Romeo is now the only one doing anything remotely special. Basically nothing from the bass or keyboard. Ahhh.
|
| |
Yea, theres only one or two solid bangers here (legend)
damnation to iconoclast was their golden age

Its definitely formulaic, but its still a decent album overall. Just not as good as you'd hope from these guys, especially after 4 years. Romeo's solo album is similar as well, which makes sense since he's been composing the majority of the music for a few albums

Dang this is one of my fav albums by them
